Minutes of League meeting 4Nov2014

Held at Ambleside Club.

Chairperson opened meeting and asked everyone to be courteous enough to listen in silence while Tricia reads the minutes, as it’s not easy to read so much writing.

Secretary read minutes from last meeting (7 October 2014).

Proposed by Carol Burrell. Seconded by Barbara Chittenden. Agreed.

There were no letters to be read. Reminder that letters must be received 14 days prior to the meeting so they can be published on the website.

Forthcoming competitions

Names and fees were handed in for the Triples.

Names and fees were handed in for the Mixed Pairs. Teams were reminded that players who have played Super league or County level darts in the last 5 years are not eligible to enter. Don’t forget it’s your responsibility to check.

Ladies Pairs – held 16 Oct

Another successful night and it didn’t run too late.
Winners: Helen Forrest & Debbie Burrow
Runners-up: Mel Nichols & Jane Schroder

Captains Cup – held 31 Oct

A good night of darts and everyone remembered their raffle prize.
Winner: Wendy Jenkins (Eagle Club)
Runner-up: Wendy Brooks (Flying Pockets)

Mixed Pairs

The cup will be held on 20 November at Southend Conservative Club. The draw will take place at 8pm prompt. Please tell your players to be there for 7.45pm so they are signed in and ready to play. Every player must be inside for the 8pm draw. If you are not in the building but outside parking your car then sorry you won’t be playing. We cannot wait. There is plenty of parking in the area including a big car park at the bottom of the road from SCC.

A lot of people enter these cups and to keep it to one night then we must start on time and run smoothly. So any smokers need to keep an eye on where they are in the order of play or they could forfeit the game if not there!

Presentation night 2015

The votes are all in for where to hold the presentation:
• Southend Conservative Club 2 votes
• Eagle Club 2 votes
• Ambleside all other votes

So the presentation will once again be held at Ambleside and we’ll just have to all squeeze in again.

Xmas events

All Christmas Draw monies and most ticket stubs were handed in. Stubs can also be brought along on the night. Teams handed in their £10 raffle prize with receipt or £10 cash. Reminder to bring £3 raffle prize on the night.

Tricia asked if anyone else wanted more draw tickets. Sue Davies (Angels) commented that players resent buying the books they do. Chair Kay Ford replied that they don’t resent getting trophies. She reminded the meeting that this is the one event we hold to raise funds for the trophies and we need you to support us.

The draw is Friday 12 December at Ambleside. Tricia will be placing an order for fish and chips, if you wish to join this order please speak to her directly about cost and menu. All choices and monies must be with Tricia by 4 December; they can be given to her at the Vice-Captains Cup that night.
The draw starts at 7.30pm and we’ll be having 3 or 4 games of fun bingo as well.

Children’s party is Sunday 7 December and starts at 2pm. Please feel free to come along and support, it’s a nice afternoon but bring your own paracetamol 

Committee to stay behind after meeting to organise forthcoming events.

We hope to see you at the Xmas events, if not have a happy Christmas.
