Minutes of League Meeting 2Sep14

Held at Ambleside Club.

Chairlady opened meeting.

No representative from the Eagle Club arrived so Sylvia Wildish was phoned. She apologised as she had the wrong day; the Eagle Club will pay the fine.

Secretary read minutes from last meeting (AGM 30 July 2014).
Proposed by Jane Schroder.  Seconded by Maggie Frost. Agreed.

One letter was read, from Tracey Golding thanking the league for her flowers. Barbara Chittenden was asked to pass on our best wishes to Tracey.

Welcome packs

Welcome packs for the new season were given out and the contents explained.

Captains have a laminated sheet and the rest are to be handed out your team.
Fixture cards for players are yellow this year and include a brief summary of the rules. The full rules are contained in the constitution, a copy of which is also in the pack for reference. The meeting dates and requirements are all on the cards. We have cut out one meeting this year.
The small white fixture sheet is for your pub/venue.

Home result cards are white and must be sent to Tricia as normal.
Away result cards are blue and must be sent to Jane as normal.
Captains please check that the cards match before signing them!

For cup matches, away team don’t need to complete a card but must text the overall result to Jane, e.g.  4-3 to Angels
Team cups are on the fixture card and following feedback the draws are now on the website and will be updated after each match.

Individual cups – the sheets are in the pack ready to fill out and hand in for singles, pairs etc. We try and leave the names and fees as late as possible to minimise the amendments we have to make.

New player forms – New players have to be registered with Secretary Tricia Smith and then 72 hours later they can play.

Please remember no Super league or county players are allowed in our competitions for 5 years after leaving the higher level. This goes for any men playing in the Mr & Mrs or mixed pairs.

Raffle

The Captains cup, Litho Cup, President’s Cup, Vice-Captains Cup and Secretary’s Cup all require each team to bring a £3 raffle prize. If a team should forget then a £5 cash prize is required as the alternative.

Please let your teams know and encourage them to support the raffles for these finals as all proceeds go towards your trophies at the end of the year.

Fees

All team registration fees and individual team members’ fees have been paid, with the exception of Eagle Club. It was agreed that Sylvia Wildish will deliver their monies to Treasurer Jane Schroder.

Children’s Christmas party

Tickets are £5 per child.

Names and monies for the party are to be handed in at the next meeting. There is a lot of work involved in preparing for this so please note that no names will be accepted after the October meeting.

Chairperson’s AOB

We try to keep meetings as short as possible, so please be quiet and don’t branch out into your own discussions. Try to be polite and courteous when people are speaking.

Reminder that letters must be received 14 days prior to a meeting so they can be published on the website for teams to review.

Treasurer advised she had received £20 league fees, being £4 short due to absence of Eagle Club, and Angels secretary. [Both amounts later received by Treasurer].

Chairlady wished the best of luck to everyone this season, and see you at the October meeting.

2. Names and monies for children’s Xmas party also to be handed in. No names will be accepted after October meeting
