Minutes of League Meeting 6Nov13

Meeting held at Westcliff British Legion.

Chairperson opened meeting.

Secretary read minutes from last meeting (2 October 2013).
Proposed by Tracey Golding.  Seconded by Sylvia Wildish. Agreed.

There were no letters to be read. Reminder that letters must be received 14 days prior to the meeting so they can be published on the website.

Forthcoming competitions

Names and fees were handed in for the Triples.

Names and fees were handed in for the Mixed Pairs. Teams were reminded that players who have played Super league or County level darts in the last 5 years are not eligible to enter. Don’t forget it’s your responsibility to check.

Ladies Pairs – held 17 Oct

It was nice to have so many people there but did prove to be a very late night. It seems to be a victim of its own success. In future it was decided that if the quarter final (last 8) hasn’t been drawn by 10.45pm then it will go over to the following week. It can’t be helped if games are slow. We will try and get it all done on one night but we will be checking that the venue will be available to host the following week just in case, so that the whole cup will be played at the same venue.

Winners: Janet Goodwin & Tina Blanks
Runners-up: Lynn Remmer & Denise Farrell

Captains Cup – held 31 Oct

A really good turnout this year and everyone remembered their raffle prize.

Winner: Carol Burrell (WBL) – second year running
Runner-up: Amanda Atkins (Amblers)

Xmas events

Christmas Draw monies and ticket stubs were handed in. Treasurer will be chasing captains for any stragglers. Stubs can also be brought along on the night. Teams handed in their £10 raffle prize with receipt or £10 cash. Reminder to bring £3 raffle prize on the night.

The draw is 13 December. Tricia is going to get prices for fish and chips; Teresa will pick up menus from West Road. All orders and monies must be with Tricia by 1 December; they can be given to her at the mixed pairs.

Hazel Boxall asked for a greater choice on the menu since it hadn’t been organised yet. It was stated that too many choices adds too much work for the committee on the night and also isn’t easy for the chip shop on a big order. Hazel herself wanted rockeel; it was agreed that an extra fish choice shouldn’t be a problem.

Sue Davies suggested a bit of music and bingo. Bingo is back by popular request.

Children’s party is 1 December.
