SDLADL League Meeting                                                                              Wednesday 5 September 2012

Secretary read minutes from the last meeting, which was the AGM held on 25 July 2012.
Proposed by Teresa Schwendener, seconded by Gladys Pope. Carried.

No correspondence received.

Welcome packs

Welcome packs were handed out to all teams. Registration forms should be carried to all matches.

Result cards: green cards to be sent to Jane Schroder, white cards to Trish Smith. Note the slight amendment to the cards – there is a box for totalling the legs, this is for checking purposes.

There are new registration forms for any additional players joining. Lynn Remmer asked if there is a time limit for registrations. Rules state that players may be registered throughout the season, but cannot play until 72 hours after being registered.

Fixtures list is to be read carefully. As agreed at the AGM, Tricia and Jane have integrated as many cup matches as possible into Mondays, to reduce the Thursday nights out. They have done the best they could do so well done to them. The last league fixture is 8 April 2013, which will be followed by the remaining cup matches.

Captains are to hold the laminated fixture list. Please take time to explain to your team about the new format of the fixture list.

Cup match sheets. These should cause no confusion as everything is explained on the sheet.
Entry forms for pairs, mixed pairs, triples etc are included in the pack.

Please see the list of league meetings and what to bring to each meeting.

Christmas events

A venue is needed for the children’s Christmas party, and also for the Christmas draw. The possibilities are: Eagle Club for both, Ambleside for children’s party only, or Southend Conservative Club. Parking issues at various venues were discussed due to the time of year, i.e. SCC and Christmas shoppers in town etc.

A vote was taken on the options: SCC and Ambleside received 5 votes; Eagle Club for both received 7 votes.

Sylvia Wildish then phoned the Eagle Club to check availability. The dates are Sunday 2 December (afternoon) for the children’s party, and Friday 14 December (evening) for the Christmas draw.

The children’s party was discussed further. Will the Eagle Club do entertainment? We are presently anticipating a ticket price of £4 per child but this will depend on the number of children and the cost of hall and entertainment. The Eagle Club charges £150 for the hall. The age limit for children attending the party is 13.

It was confirmed that everyone was happy to have bingo again at the Christmas draw.

These dates will appear on the website.

Retired cups

As Jackie Hammond was a Southend Conservative Club player, Barbara Chittenden confirmed that SCC will be retaining the Hammond Cup.

The Victoria Cook cup will be held by the League.

Remind teams that we are out for a night out and a laugh.

Treasurer advised she had received £24 league fees.

Next meeting will be Wednesday 3 October, when Christmas draw books will be handed out.

Meeting closed at 8.45pm.
