SDLADL League Meeting                                                                                              Wednesday 3 October 2012

Apologies for absence: Tricia Smith (Secretary).

The minutes of the last meeting (5 September) were read by Sandra Mathews.
Proposed by Doreen Adams, seconded by Gladys Pope. Carried.

No correspondence received.

Ladies Pairs competition

The competition will be played in one night on Thursday 18 October at the Eagle Club. 41 pairs have entered. To complete the competition in one night we must start on time, so please tell your players that the draw will take place at 8.15 prompt. There will be no waiting for people to park or any other excuses so please ensure that your players leave themselves sufficient time. Please bring chalkers and checkers or be prepared to chalk and check if you lose, as the evening will have a constant turnover. Hopefully it will be a good evening and a successful way of running the competition; time will tell.

Captains Cup

Will be held on Thursday 1 November. All captains are required to attend and play. A £3 raffle prize is required. If you forget your raffle prize you will be fined £5; this will go into the raffle in lieu of the prize. The venue captain is Chris Stock and her number is on the sheet.

Christmas events

The children’s party has had a good level of interest and 53 children are coming. Jane Schroder reported that the cost of the Eagle Club is £150, which includes entertainment. Lynn Remmer has a team member who does face painting and has offered her services.

Kay Ford confirmed that Christmas draw tickets have been distributed to all teams and asked that as many to be sold as possible, the money made on the draw goes towards buying trophies etc.

It was confirmed that everyone was happy to have a fish & chip supper at the Christmas draw, so Lynn Remmer will get prices and menus from the Kingfisher restaurant down the road from the Eagle Club at The Renown. Forms for food orders will be distributed at the captains cup or mixed pairs or by email, and should be returned with payment at the league meeting on 7 November.

£10 cash or £10 raffle prize to be brought to the next meeting by each team. If you bring a prize then it is essential to bring the receipt as well.

Chairperson’s AOB

Please be aware of people playing darts and don’t walk across the area etc. Remember they are in the middle of a game!

Kay & Tricia received emails from Linda Murphy asking why the Ambleside Club had no finals allocated. Kay pointed out that in fact the Mr & Mrs final will be at Ambleside, and also of course the presentation night, which in revenue is the equivalent of multiple finals. Kay hoped that the majority of teams are happy with allocation of finals as the committee has tried to do it as fairly as possible, subject to size of entry and number of dart boards.

Kay reminded the meeting that Tricia is new to the job of League Secretary and asked teams to cut her a little slack, as she is a lovely person who is trying to do a really good job.

Treasurer advised she had received £24 league fees.

Next meeting will be Wednesday 7 November. Please bring:

·         Christmas draw money

·         Christmas draw food orders + money

·         £10 raffle prize + receipt OR £10 cash

·         Names + money for Mixed Pairs

·         Names + money for Triples

Meeting closed at 8.30pm.
